Cassie attended the Alaska State Science Fair this past weekend 3/27 She entered her project titled: "The Degradation of the scenic Takotna River: How Pollutants Affect the Ecosystem of a River".

Cassie was presented with the following awards on Sunday 3/28/2010

*First place in the category: Environmental Management and Sciences

*Stockholm Junior Water Prize Winner She was chosen to represent Alaska at the 2010 U.S. National Competition in St. Louis this summer.

*High School Winner for the Outstanding Science Fair Project chosen by the Aurora Borealis Branch of The Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S. Public Health Service She was presented with a $100 check.

*Outstanding High School Science Project Winner chosen by the U.S. Army She received a $100 savings bond.

*Overall Grand Winner chosen by the U.S. Army She received the silver medallion "United States Army Award for Excellence in Science".

The Iditarod Area School District recognizes the unique and distinctive nature and culture of each child and will work towards providing an individualized, comprehensive, sequential, and culturally-relevant educational program.
